What it fits

  • MultiChoice 13/14 series tub/shower trims on the MultiChoice universal valve, produced after March 2006 (Delta's product page). Delta's support article also lists floor-mounted tub fillers.
  • Delta staff on the product page confirm it fits Celice 144705 trim.
  • It does not fit 17 series trim. Delta staff point 17 series owners to RP46463.

RP46074 or RP19804?

Both are single-function Monitor cartridges, and they look similar. Delta's reference sheet and staff answers separate them like this:

LegsDelta says the post-2006 cartridge "has different shaped legs to fit the current valve roughs"

Delta's staff decline to call the two interchangeable. They recommend installing the part listed on your model's parts diagram.

Removal notes (from Delta's support article)

Shut off the water supply first.

  1. Remove the handle and slide off the metal sleeve.
  2. Unscrew the bonnet nut (hand-tight, or use a strap wrench). Make sure the valve body itself doesn't turn.
  3. Don't pry the cartridge out with a screwdriver. Put the handle back on, turn it about 1/4 turn counterclockwise past the stop, take it off, then grip the brass stem and pull straight out.
  4. Flush the valve with hot and cold, protecting the wall from spray.
  5. Install the new cartridge with "Hot Side" toward the hot supply (usually on the left).

The rattle test: Delta's article says that if you remove the cartridge in the full-on position and shake it, a rattle means the pressure-balance spool is working. No rattle means try tapping it, soaking it in 1:1 water and white vinegar for 30 minutes, or replacing it.

Delta lists the problems it solves: drips when off, leaks inside the handle, low flow on one temperature, or only one temperature no matter where the handle is.
