Quick answer
SodaStream makes two kinds of CO2 cylinder, and each machine takes only one. The pink Quick Connect cylinder clicks in under a lever on newer machines like the Terra, Art and E-Terra. The blue screw-in cylinder twists into older and simpler machines like the Fizzi, Genesis and Jet. Both hold enough gas for up to 60 liters of sparkling water.
Fit chart
These are the machines SodaStream lists for each cylinder on its US support and cylinder pages.
| Cylinder | How it goes in | Machines SodaStream lists |
|---|---|---|
| Quick Connect (pink seal) | Clicks in under a lever, no twisting | Terra, E-Terra, Art, Enso, E-Duo, Duo, Mix, Gaia, and the Aqua Fizz with a pink or black handle at the back |
| Screw-in (blue seal) | Twists into the back of the machine | Fizzi, One Touch, Jet, Genesis, Power, Source, Spirit, Crystal, Cool / Fountain, and the Aqua Fizz with a screw-in mechanism at the back |
The Aqua Fizz shows up on both lists, so look at the back of that machine before you order. SodaStream's refill page adds the Duo, Spirit and Crystal to the lists on its support article.
Not sure which one your machine takes?
- Look at the top of the cylinder you have. SodaStream says a pink valve seal means Quick Connect. The screw-in cylinder is marked with a blue seal.
- Look at the back of the machine. Quick Connect machines have a handle you raise and lower to lock the cylinder in. SodaStream says that handle may be pink or black. Screw-in machines have a threaded holder and no handle.
- Check the machine's name against the chart above. It is usually printed on the front or the base.
They do not swap. SodaStream's Terra page says the Terra works only with Quick Connect cylinders, and its support team tells owners that a blue cylinder won't fit a Quick Connect machine. See Quick Connect vs screw-in for the differences and how to trade one type for the other.
How long a cylinder lasts
| What SodaStream says | Number |
|---|---|
| Sparkling water per cylinder | Up to 60 liters on average |
| Typical time per cylinder | About 4–8 weeks |
| Spares to keep on hand | At least one backup; SodaStream's spare cylinder page suggests 3 in total |
The real number depends on how fizzy you like your water. More presses per bottle means fewer bottles per cylinder. Both types are rated the same.
Use SodaStream cylinders only: SodaStream says non-SodaStream cylinders and third-party refills can be unsafe, may damage the machine and can void the warranty. That includes adapters that let one machine take the other cylinder type.
