Quick answer
These are the three blades most home groomers end up with. A #10 leaves about 1/16 inch of hair. A #7F leaves about 1/8 inch, twice as long. A #30 leaves just 1/50 inch on its own, but it's mostly used as the base blade under snap-on attachment combs. Andis's chart gives these lengths, and r/doggrooming threads show the same three-way choice confusing a lot of owners.

Why the #10 is the "default" blade
Andis's Easy Clip Versa ships with a #10 on the clipper, and the manual's attachment comb lengths are all given for use with the #10 blade. PetEdge's breed guide lists #10 for the stomach on nearly every breed, and for the head, neck and ears on many terriers.
When to use a #7F
PetEdge suggests #7F (or #5F) for a matted strip-down, where the whole coat has to come off. It also lists #7F for the body, back and sides on several breeds. Andis says the #7 comes in skip-tooth and FC versions that leave the same 1/8 inch.
The #30 and attachment combs
On bare skin a #30 is very close. Its main job is holding attachment combs. Wahl says its #30 blade can be used with stainless steel attachment guide combs for lengths up to 1 inch of fur. PetEdge's guide shows the pairing as "#30 / 1" UC" or "#30 / 1¼" UC" on breeds that get a longer trim.
Watch the heat on a #30 used without a comb. Andis says to check blade heat often, especially on close-cutting blades. See clipper blade getting hot.
How we work: lengths come from Andis's chart and manual. Job suggestions come from PetEdge's breed guide, and the comb pairing comes from Wahl's help center. We haven't groomed dogs with these blades ourselves. Sources are listed below.
