In short
Keurig's troubleshooting lists three causes of a partial cup: a clogged exit needle, a reservoir that was removed during brewing, or a brewer that needs descaling. Work through them in that order. If you've descaled twice and it still brews short, Keurig says to contact Customer Service.
Three causes, in order
- Clean the exit needle. Take out the pod holder and clear the needle with a straightened paper clip. See how to clean the needles.
- Reseat the reservoir. If the reservoir was lifted during a brew, Keurig says to put it back and run a rinsing brew with no pod.
- Descale. Follow the full steps for your model. Keurig says to contact Customer Service if two descales don't fix it.
Short cups right after descaling
Keurig says a heavily scaled brewer may not fill properly after the descaler goes in. You may see little or no output, then hear air blowing. Its fix:
- Turn off and unplug the brewer.
- If there's descaling solution in the reservoir, pour it out, rinse the reservoir well and refill with water.
- Plug it back in, power on, and repeat the fresh water rinse. Keurig says it should start working normally as the solution rinses out and the scale clears.
- If it still stalls, leave it unplugged for at least 30 minutes, then continue the rinse.
Also check
- Water level. If the add water light stays on after you refill to MAX and seat the reservoir, the K-Elite guide says to contact Customer Service.
- Water type. Keurig's guides say not to use distilled water. They suggest bottled or filtered water, or a Keurig water filter, if the taste is off.
