In short

Keurig's K-Supreme SMART guide says the descale notification only turns off when you follow the full descaling procedure. If you stopped after the solution rinse, or skipped the fresh water rinses, run the rest of the cycle. On that model, keep rinsing until the screen says DESCALE COMPLETE.

Finish the cycle

Why the descale light stays on (K-Supreme SMART) Started Descale Mode on, solution added › Solution done Brewed 12 oz at a time until ADD WATER › Rinse done Fresh water, rinse until DESCALE COMPLETE › Light off Keurig: only after the full procedure
Keurig says the notification turns off only when the full procedure is followed.
  1. Start descale mode. On the K-Supreme SMART, when the notification shows, press the left arrow, choose CONTINUE, and pick 2 oz pouch or 14 oz bottle. To start it without the notification, press both arrows to open Settings and choose Descale Mode.
  2. Run the solution through. Empty the reservoir and add the whole bottle plus a bottle of water (or the pouch plus 24 oz of water). Press the flashing BREW button for 12 oz at a time until the screen says ADD WATER.
  3. Rinse until it says complete. Rinse the reservoir, fill to MAX with fresh water, and keep running rinse brews until DESCALE COMPLETE shows.

On other models

The K-Elite and K-Duo guides tell you to properly follow the descaling procedure, including the 30-minute rest and the full fresh water rinse. The K-Elite rinse is at least 12 large brews. The K-Duo rinse is 4 carafe brews plus 4 single-cup brews. See the full steps by model.

If it stops partway

Keurig says a heavily scaled brewer may not fill after the descaler goes in. You may see little or no output and hear air. Turn it off, unplug it, empty and rinse the reservoir, refill with water, then plug in and repeat the fresh water rinse.
