Quick answer
You unbox a new disposal and there's no cord, or the old cord won't fit. InSinkErator now sells two different setups. EZ Connect models have a plug-in socket on the disposal and use the CRD-EZ cord. Older-style models wire through a cover plate on the bottom and use the CRD-00 power cord assembly. They are not interchangeable.
InSinkErator power cords: check whether your disposal says EZ Connect on the box or label.
EZ Connect Cord (CRD-EZ) Power Cord Assembly (CRD-00)Which cord fits your disposal
| Part | InSinkErator number | Fits | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| CRD-EZ EZ Connect cord | 80016-ISE | All EZ Connect Power Series and EZ Connect Advanced Series models, including EZ Connect Contractor and Pro models | Plugs into the socket on the disposal and into the outlet under the sink. No wiring. |
| CRD-00 power cord assembly | 09008D | Disposals wired through the bottom cover plate (not EZ Connect) | Wires into the disposal's electrical box, so it takes a screwdriver and the steps in the installation manual. |
| HDW-00 EZ Connect hardwire adapter kit | 80043-ISE | EZ Connect disposals where the kitchen has a hardwired supply instead of an outlet | Connects to the hardwire and plugs into the disposal. |
| STS-EZ EZ Connect air switch | 81161 (no button) | All EZ Connect disposals | Uses a standard outlet and replaces buying a cord and air switch separately. |
Don't re-use the old cord
InSinkErator's EZ installation page is direct about it: EZ Connect corded disposers must use the EZ Connect power cord provided with the disposer, and you should not re-use a pre-existing power cord. If the cord's plug doesn't fit your outlet, don't modify the plug or force it in; have an electrician install a proper outlet.
How to tell if you have EZ Connect
- The box and the label on the side of the unit say EZ Connect.
- Underneath there's a molded socket for a plug instead of a metal cover plate held by a screw.
- InSinkErator's spec sheet lists most current Badger, Power, and Advanced models in both "Hardwire" and "Cord Included" versions, so check the exact model number on your receipt too.
Cord in, but it only hums? See humming but not spinning.
Electrical work: turn off the breaker before wiring a CRD-00 cord or a hardwire adapter. If you're not comfortable working inside an electrical box, this is a quick job for an electrician.

Questions people ask
Can I use a CRD-00 power cord on an EZ Connect disposal?
No. InSinkErator says EZ Connect corded disposals must use the EZ Connect power cord provided with the disposal and warns not to re-use a pre-existing cord. The replacement is CRD-EZ (80016-ISE), listed for all EZ Connect Power Series and Advanced Series models.
What is the CRD-00 cord for?
CRD-00 (09008D) is InSinkErator's standard power cord assembly for disposals that wire through a cover plate on the bottom instead of a plug-in socket, such as many Badger models sold without a cord.
My kitchen is hardwired. Can I still install an EZ Connect disposal?
Yes. InSinkErator makes the EZ Connect Hardwire Adapter Kit (HDW-00, 80043-ISE), which connects to the hardwired supply and plugs into the disposal. If the cord plug doesn't fit your outlet, InSinkErator says not to modify it; have an electrician install a proper outlet.
